We woke up yesterday morning after all of the rains to find our backyard looking like this:
A drainage ditch runs at the back of our property - behind the fence - into a culvert down the street. In the storms and the drainage from those storms, the culvert got blocked by debris. Which is the pile on the right of this photo.
Digging out the culvert. Our street was flooded over.
Ahh! Back to normal! Except for the debris caught in the fence and all of the sand...
We lost a little more fence. We had planned to replace that soon anyway but, I think it just got a little sooner. Our basement is ok. It's wet where some water has seeped (weeped) in but, our sump pump is working well and getting water out. We're very lucky. Our neighbors to the left have 6-8 inches of standing water in their basement and I know the house 2 doors down to our right has quite a bit of water in their basement (their sump failed). They say our river in Allegan has crested at this point. Let's hope this is all we get.
Oh Noooooo!! So glad you guys didn't have any water in your basement. Hope your neighbors are dried out!
