The other night, Jacob and I were in the grocery store, and Jacob said 'hi' to the cashier. She said "hi, what's your name?"
"I Jacob. This mommy. Her Gail. What your name?"
"Damonika, nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you Monca! Bye!"
School starts next week. For us, that means speech and OT start up again. Jeremy and Jacob visited the school a few days ago and Jacob asked for Miss Honche and her firetrucks. It's very interesting to see his memory coming into play now. I'm anxious to see what the therapists have to say about Jacob's progress over this summer. In June, I saw this little boy who struggled with so many things. Coming into this fall, I see a little boy who holds a conversation and speaks quite clearly and with enunciation and emotion, who doesn't grunt and point! We've come a long way!
I think...

Ahhhh...thanks for the laugh with this post, Gail. I always love the Jacobisms, and this latest installment did not disappoint. Also, the exchange between JJ and the cashier was too cute. And the picture? Perfectly placed after your discussion of his speech progress! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I hope the new school year brings new hopes! Sounds like you can already see the changes. And how cool that he's excited to see an "ol' friend" there!! I love school because the kids always have something new to share which is so hard to do during their long breaks home w/ the folks.
ReplyDeleteHa! This whole post was adorable, but that picture is priceless. Love it!
